UAE phone number auctioned for Dh2.5m

Dubai: An auction for mobile phone numbers by UAE telecom firm du has earned more than Dh7.1 million.
A number ending in 1111 was auctioned for Dh2,550,000, while another ending in 0000 sold for Dh1,010,000.
The auction saw 50 exclusive packages sold for a combined Dh7,114,000.
Du allocated part of the proceeds to Al Jalila Foundation’s projects in medical research.
Ahmad Abu Rahima, executive vice-president, government relations for du, said the auction “falls under our continued efforts to transform the corporate social responsibility domain”.
